Originally from Chiayi, Taiwan, and now Belgium-based Soprano Chia-Fen WU(Fanny), holds several academic credits including a Bachelor- and a Masterdegree from the Taipei National University of the Arts, Graduate Performance Diploma in Opera from the Royal College of Music (RCM), and Graduate Diploma in Performance from International Opera Academy in Belgium. WU is offered a tenured position at the chorus of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Belgiam, and performed in nearly one hundred opera productions, and is currently serving as one of the Belgian International Opera Academy board members. Wu is also very proactive in speaking out for Taiwan using her talent of voice, introducing Taiwanese music, along with outstanding Taiwanese musicians to European audience.

Wu’s important appearances in opera stage include: Gilda in «Rigoletto» by Verdi, Lady Macbeth’s maid in «Macbeth», Prokofiev’s «The Gambler» as Lady White, Echo in Richard Strauss’ «Ariadne auf Naxos», Virgin Mary in Franz Schreker's «Der Schmied» von Gent.  She also served as the soprano soloist in Mozart's «Requiem» and «Mass in C minor», Handel’s «Messiah», Mahler’ «Symphony No. 4, » and «Scenes from Goethe's Faust» by Shuman.

WU’s key recitals include 2019 LIVE AT LUNCH at Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, and the reopen concert of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Belgium in 2020, after its shutdown due to Covid-19.  In September 2022, WU participated in Kurt Weill’s «Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny» at the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, working with world-renowned Belgian director Ivo Van Hove, and was invited to toured to Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg.
